Willenhall’s finest IPA pro Neil Raybone reigned as the Golden 8 Ball 2015 supreme champion, accumulating £3,500 in prize money after winning both the Men’s Singles and the Team Trophy event during the prestigious tournament weekend, held at the Norbreck Castle Hotel in Blackpool this summer.
In excess of £16,000 was paid out in prizes during the three day event which attracted over 600 players and spectators from as far as Spain!
The 5th Golden 8 Ball event proved to be the biggest and best yet with its fun atmosphere and professional playing conditions.
The tournament prides itself on providing the ultimate pool playing experience and featured 37 SAM Atlantic tables, covered in Hainsworth Precision cloth and graced by Super Aramith Pro balls – giving players unrivalled speed and cue ball accuracy. The tournament structure appeals to teams of all abilities, allowing them to play many frames of pool over the course of the weekend, and eventually end up playing teams of similar skill level in a knockout format.
The event has surged in popularity and attracted a record 135 teams this year with many more wanting to enter. For those that couldn’t make the event, local media firm and keen pool advocates Tsunami Streaming provided live internet coverage of some of the main matches throughout the weekend.
